Craig Foster introduces Amphibious Soul

Dear wonderful book sellers and book readers,

Amphibious Soul is my whole-hearted attempt to describe what it’s like to be inside the original womb of Mother Nature, and how to get in. There is no better feeling than to be in dialogue with the wild, to be able to speak the oldest language on earth. When we can live like this, within the bounds of our original design, our entire human ecosystem sparkles with joy and life.

I share the story here of how I attempted, for years, to immerse myself in the wild by diving with crocodiles and great white sharks, only to find that the golden key was a much simpler and safer way. This book is a guide to help you find your own way to experience the primal joy of reconnecting with nature. In forging that deep connection, we can experience and explore the biodiversity that is the life support system of this living planet and enables us to stay alive.

I hope this experience will inspire us to put in all our efforts to support, grow and protect our only home.

I get messages from so many people all over the world, from multiple different cultures, who confess their emotional and physical struggles. The world seems gripped in a pandemic of depression and anxiety that I’m convinced is largely due to our separation from nature and from the ways of our ancestors. I hope this book can help with understanding this despair. It is written for those of us who are disconnected from nature and also for those of us who already know how important nature is and want to deepen that experience and see inside the secret lives of animals and plants.

James Cameron director of “Avatar” summed up “Amphibious Soul” in this way: “This book is the story of finding wildness in a world gone tame, and feeling the hearts of animals beating inside our own. It’s about feeling our stone age ancestors shouting across the great divide, pushing us to wake up to who we are. It’s about becoming alive in the Great African Seaforest, and learning the oldest language on earth. It’s about tracking the greatest masters of camouflage and being let inside their secret worlds. This is the amphibious soul.” Come find yours with me.

I hope this experience will inspire us to put in all our efforts to support, grow and protect our only home.

Blessings,

Craig
