Laurence Bergreen is a prize-winning biographer and journalist. He is the author of Voyage to Mars: NASA’s Search for Life Beyond Earth; Louis Armstrong: An Extravagant Life; As Thousands Cheer: The Life of Irving Berlin and James Agee: A Life. His first book was Look Now, Pay Later: The Rise of Network Broadcasting. He is a graduate of Harvard University. As part of the research for this book, he sailed through the Strait of Magellan. He lives in New York.
